About

Dr. Li’s research focuses on developing and evaluating scalable, evidence-based digital interventions that promote sustained lifestyle behavior change by supporting individuals in building self-regulatory skills and forming healthier habits in everyday life, particularly physical activity. Dr. Li draws on psychological theory and the NIH Science of Behavior Change (SOBC) framework to identify the mechanisms that drive lasting behavior change. Dr. Li is especially interested in leveraging digital technologies to deliver low-burden, personalized interventions that integrate into daily routines to support long-term health and healthy aging, with a particular focus on middle-aged adults. When asked why she wanted to be involved with the Roybal Center: "I am interested in being involved with the Roybal Center because of its focus on advancing innovative, mechanism-driven behavioral interventions that support healthy aging. My research aligns closely with this mission, particularly in developing scalable digital interventions to support sustained physical activity and lifestyle behavior change in midlife. I am especially drawn to the Roybal Center’s emphasis on the NIH Stage Model and the systematic progression of interventions from early development to real-world implementation. Being part of the Roybal Center would provide valuable opportunities for mentorship, collaboration, and methodological training to strengthen my ability to design mechanism-focused, stage-appropriate trials. I am also excited about the opportunity to contribute to a collaborative research environment dedicated to translating behavioral science into practical strategies that improve health outcomes in diverse populations."
