About

Dr. Jayakody's work focuses on helping individuals stay independent as they age. She investigates the mechanisms driving cognitive and functional decline, with a particular emphasis on Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD), and develops practical, scalable behavioral interventions to support early risk identification and prevention beginning in midlife. When asked why she wanted to be involved with the Roybal Center: "The Michigan Roybal Center’s focus on translating motivation and behavior change into real-world, scalable interventions strongly aligns with my research goals. I am excited to be part of a collaborative scientific community working to develop innovative strategies to enhance physical activity, support cognitive health, and promote long-term independence across the lifespan."
