About

Katelyn Webster-Dekker’s research focuses on physical activity behaviors of older adults and the role physical activity plays in supporting their physical and cognitive functioning. She is particularly interested in older adults with chronic conditions and those who reside in independent and assisted living communities. Through the development of physical activity interventions, she aims to help older adults slow the progression of frailty and functional decline, maintain as much independence as possible, and avoid needing higher levels of care. When asked why she is interested in working with the Roybal Center: "My research interests are closely aligned with the Center's focus on promoting sustained behavior change to enhance cognitive function. I also utilize wearables and ambulatory monitoring methods. I am excited to be part of this community."
