About
Dr. Salerno's research focuses on how individuals age after cancer and how physical activity can improve outcomes such as cognitive function, mobility, and psychosocial health. Specifically, her work integrates evidence from observational studies with behavioral and implementation science to design and deliver sustainable physical activity interventions in clinical and community settings. Ultimately, Dr. Salerno aims for her work to support large-scale integration of lifestyle behaviors into the standard of cancer care to support healthy aging after cancer. When asked why she wants to be involved with the Roybal Center: "It's exciting to join a group dedicated to the development and sustainability of behaviorally-driven research to support cognitive function, an area that it highly relevant to my own research. One of the most impactful negative symptoms of cancer treatment is impaired cognitive function, while physical activity is one of the impactful positive behaviors for better health. I believe this intersection has great potential for real benefit in survivors' daily lives."
