The purpose of this research is to determine how generative AI can be prompted to write personalized text messages to promote physical activity optimized to be perceived as personally relevant to middle-aged and older adults. Participants will self-report their (1) preferences and (2) interests in physical activity, (3) regular behaviors performed in a day, and (4) the environments available to them for physical activity. This information will be used to write personalized text messages for each individual participant using generative AI. Participants will read 96 text messages personalized to varying degrees using a factorial experiment, and rate the extent to which each message is personally relevant to them.
